There are some M4 owners who are having problem with their SSD when it reaches around 5,000 hours count time / on time. It suddenly causes Blue Screen of Dead with 0x000000F4 error. Moreover, after restarting the computer, it will have sudden restarts on every exact 60 minutes.
Crucial, however, have been aware with the issue and will be releasing a new firmware. They estimate the new release to be published on January 16, 2012 the soonest.
I think it is interesting to know the root cause of the issue; of why it happens after reaching 5,000 hours. Also, if a new firmware can really fix the problem, if they believe that it is solely a software issue. I am using an M4 so I am quite nervous as well. Mine is still around 1,000 hours though.
UPDATE:
New firmware is now available!
NB: do not forget to backup your data!
